Shima Faridani

Shima Faridani is an artist who has experience working with different technics including acrylic, oil paint, color pencil, and also watercolor. She, who started her work with completely realistic them, gradually stepped away from any mere reality to a metaphorical method that is sometimes very direct and sometimes very personal and intuitive. Exploring the new, revelatory, and occasionally fundamental nature of considered objects and the new harmonies she creates between their visual confrontation bring her an opportunity to step into lands that are built based on an inner contemplation rather than just a mere horizons observation. In such a way, the primary perceptual light rays disappear so that re-compositions and decompositions are formed. In search of the foundations, sometimes the shell of objects cracks, but apart from these secondary demonstrations, one of the painter`s main goals is to find the answers that each work is trying to give as if each piece of art is a mirror-like question mark. Just like each of us who are the unique questions & answers standing in the middle of the world, face to face with ourselves.

Statement

Reading a story that I am aware of only a part of it, is actually making my own story. This is just like real life. A poetic concept among the most sensible possibilities. I believe the poetic nature of life is mostly because the main narrative that may be called life, is unknown. Life is poetic because I generally understand it clearly, but in the end, I don't understand its relation to everything I do not know. This is how I consolidated the narration of my works without insisting to be involved in a narrative. I wanted to tell my own little story in the shadows and ignorance that have always surrounded us like a huge atmosphere, without giving a direct and clear report of it. I have tried to consider the “Unknowns” which make up the inner meaning of what I know as a "hypertext" around my little narrative, and in this duality of a fraction and the whole inside the island of clarity which located inside the unseen ocean, I consider and understand the main narrative as something which has been erased, but its effect remains in its components.
It seems that it is an inescapable principle in our century that we have to return from the shore of search to the sea inside to respect and be prepared to question the whole that embraces every movement as an everlasting component, being ready to receive what is invisible and intangible, but allows the form, appearance, and theme of everything to be exactly as it is. I have tried to talk to the whole thing without deviating from its components. A whole that always goes away so that we can deal with its components. A whole that its traces are visible in the desert of its components, and any kind of clues eventually reach it. I consider this whole as a very big picture that everything else is just a small part of it. So, the traces of that big story are well visible in the small events, even if we have deleted it, put it aside, or temporarily forgotten it.
