This is a story about people living during the Qajar dynasty. Story of deformed human beings, an imperial king who is alone at the top, sleep-deprived people who are watching an execution scene as well as the misery of families that is being captured through the photos, in black and white.
“Amphitheatre” is a story about showcasing the misery of transformed human beings so that the next generations won’t forget their historic backgrounds.
The inevitable destiny of deformed people is execution and their gradual death on gallows is shown like an entertaining feast in a movie before the eyes of witnesses.
Soltan-e Sahebgharan was brought up by maids and servants. He bluffs about his sovereignty like a scarecrow in front of helpless people but in fact he is a delusive and absurd ruler.
The confusion in the eyes of the deformed represents what we see and capture in history without a clear future in sight.
