SARAI Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2023's Modern and Contemporary section. For its third presence at this prestigious event, SARAI's booth showcases a group presentation of recent paintings and works on paper by rising and established Middle Eastern artists Moslem Khezri (1984), Abbas Nasle Shamloo (1983), Mohamad Khalili (1971), and Parham Peyvandi (1989), curated by Roxane Zand. Touching on critical themes including immigration, environmental change, modern humanity's individuality and solitude, and an overall sense of loss and alienation, the present selection highlights examples of contemporary figurative art that champion technical accomplishment and subtlety of tone: the overall controlled color palettes and balanced compositions create visual silence and mental space inviting contemplation and introspection. Khezri's works express universal emotions through human figures and their interplay with their surrounding spaces while Khalili, Peyvandi, and Nasle Shamloo each channel inner states of mind by creating unique atmospheres through the quality of light and texture in part-real, part-imagined landscapes.
