Hamid Bahrami b. 1972

Hamid Bahrami (b. 1972, Iran) is an Iranian filmmaker and visual artist based in Atlanta, United States. He holds a B.A in Painting from the Art University of Tehran and has worked for over two decades in animation, illustration, and visual storytelling. His work has earned numerous awards, including from the Tehran International Fajr Film Festival, Tehran International Cartoon Biennale and the Tehran International Animation Festival.

In 2001, Bahrami founded Bamdad Studio, and his acclaimed short film The Traveler of the Horizon (2006) won Best Short Film at the Iranian International Film Festival, FAJR. After moving to the U.S. in 2007, he began collaborating with Turner Studios and later contributed as a concept and storyboard artist for international music tours and videos by U2, Westlife, Lionel Richie, and Bastille.

Bahrami's art blends fantasy and realism to explore memory, trauma, and the subconscious. Deeply shaped by his childhood during the Iran-Iraq war, his visual language uses the therapeutic power of illustration and comics as a lens through which to process lived experience and reflect on the complexities of the human psyche.
