Mila Askarova, originally from Azerbaijan, moved to London in 2002 and earned a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics before beginning her career in Client Development at Sotheby’s. She later studied contemporary art collecting and curating at Central Saint Martins and Christie’s Education.
In 2010, she founded Gazelli Art House London, expanding from its original Baku location (est. 2003). The gallery represents a dynamic roster of international artists, spanning Post-War to ultra-contemporary practices, with a focus on experimentation across mediums. It also promotes art from Azerbaijan and its neighbouring regions, fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
Since 2015, Mila has led the gallery’s expansion into digital art through GAZELL.iO , a platform dedicated to innovation at the intersection of art and technology. GAZELL.iO hosts an international artist residency programme, blockchain-based projects in collaboration with Verisart, and exhibitions in the Project Space. The GAZELL.iO VR Library, introduced in 2020, presents a curated selection of digital works, creating a platform for exploring and engaging with the evolving digital art landscape.
