The sudden presence of white or black lines which represent the ropes and cords of the boxing ring, act as signs which deter one’s mind from the figurative meaning and bring it back to the reality. In other words, we momentary but fully return to the game of boxing and its real space free from any symbolization; the reality which we have been ignoring all along. In fact, in doing so, the artist keeps the viewer’s mind oscillating between reality and metonymy, truth and fabrication, and this keeps the metaphors vibrant so that each moment remains fresh to the beholder.
