Art Dubai, founded in 2007, has become one of the most important events on the international map of contemporary art. Every year, around 120 galleries from all over the world participate in it, 80% of which have their representation in the region. The 2025 edition was distinguished by a friendly and light atmosphere, complemented by the surrounding palm trees and the refreshing breeze from the azure Persian Gulf. Such an environment, at first glance seemingly less formal, put both exhibitors and visitors in a positive mood.
Although, as with any event of this type, the main goal is to sell works of art, establish new contacts and strengthen one's position on the market, for me Art Dubai 2025 was primarily a pleasure to discover new artists and inspiring conversations that took place in an aura of perfume scents and the oriental climate of the Middle East.
The fair was divided into three main sections: Contemporary, Modern and Digital. Digital installations specially commissioned for the event flashed in the outdoor space, emphasizing the growing role of technology in art. There were also daily panel discussions, in which the challenges and goals of contemporary art were discussed, as well as the work of artists with outstanding achievements.

SARAI Gallery
Among the works presented by SARAI Gallery, the painting Spider by Morteza Khakshoor (born 1984) attracted special attention. The central figure of the composition is a spider – immobilized under a glass, observing the surroundings, trapped, and yet disturbingly present. This simple gesture – covering – carries tension and control, arousing memories familiar to many: the act of capturing a creature that may seem innocent, but still arouses a subconscious fear.
Khakshoor reinforces the atmosphere of unease with additional elements of the image: darkness outside the window with a moon a few days before full, nursing a female dog, who warily watches the pensive, gloomy man. This scene of suspension and tension is softened only by a symbolic accent: a triangular piece of cake with marshmallows - an untouched reward, perhaps a harbinger of relief.
The painting balances between the everyday and symbolic tension, creating a dense, ambiguous emotional narrative.
